L'embarras du choix
YAY so much great new music!
Marques Houston is incredible on "Sunset".
If Donnell Jones really wanted me not to trip he wouldn't have released a single this hot.
F-f-"Fall" 4 more new Brandy.
Talib Kweli teams up with Fabolous, Styles P and Ranson on "What I've Learned", which brings to mind the most hilariously scathing review over @ TSS = ROR!
Oh looky, posse cut w/ Red Cafe!
Every member of humankind might be related to somebody on this one.
Ice Cube has a str8 banger with "Get Used To It" featuring The Game and WC.
Cuban Link returns with a fine effort.
The instr on Nas' "Can't Stop Me Now" ft. Eban Thomas is everywhere, and that's good.
Lil Wayne and Mike Tyson posit on "The American Dream".
"Didn't I Tell You?" I'm not sure Keyshia, say it again!
Homegirl Mami Montana's fully reppin on "Afficial".
Ja Rule's back with "Baby".

Kardi & rant
Last night was off the scale of wikkidness! Peepd the Kardinal Offishall afterparty (props 2 Gman & Rizk) and lemme tell you bout a performer so generous he unbegrudgingly signed and posed so graciously all night without pause, truly a gem of an artist, and I'm so proud he's Canadian and true to his craft. He was here on tour with Akon, Sean Paul and Wyclef, so here's a whole heap of choice cuts from all these brothas:
Kardinal Offishall - Touch Me Back
Kardinall Offishall - Bad Like We Bad
Kardinall Offishall ft. Akon - Graveyard Shift
Drake ft. Kardinal Offishall & Andreena - The Last Hope
Rochester ft. Kardinal Offishall - Pull Up
Akon - Right Now (Na Na Na)
Akon - She's So Fine
Colby Odonis - Don't Turn Back (prod. by Akon)
Briccs Dolla Figga ft. Akon - Stay Down
Wyclef Jean ft. Lupe Fiasco - Fast Car (remix)
Wyclef Jean ft. Sizzla - Welcome To The East
Uncle Murda ft. Wyclef & Movado - Informer
T.I. ft. Wyclef Jean - You Know What It Is
Sean Paul ft. Mr. Evil (Leftside) - Back It Up
Sean Paul - Hold My Hand
Sean Paul - The Rite Time
(on second thought its so sweet here's the rest of Forever riddim)
The indomitable Joe Budden. Love this new Papoose.
Red Cafe appears on this hot HOT trak (tx KS!).
Mario's Stuttering and I Choose You are gonna be bangin in my ride this week.
Dunno bout this new Ciara tho its nice 2 hear Luda for a sec.
This fresh Christina Milian is by my favourite furtive producer, brilliant beatmaker 7 Aurelius. Nicole Wray (when oh when?...) did a secret unreleased trak w/ him called Lollipop a few years back that is the holy grail of NW fanz (featured for a few bars playin on the car radio in a Dame Dash video intro, how obscure can u get!).
It is interesting to note that today's post begins and ends with two of my all-time favourite artists. Both are prodigiously talented and both have been royally shafted by the commercial music biz. Kardi's 2nd album got shelved after the collapse of MCA and was summarily forgotten by the execs, and Nicole Wray got screwed by both Missy and the execs, fuckery which continues to this day. Hopes were high that her unreleased "Elektric Blue" album would finally drop when she hooked up w/ Dame Dash a few years ago, but, erm, that didn't really work out, so uhhh..., well, nothin... (sistas, in the words of Dorothy Parker: "Never put all your eggs in one bastard"). Theories abound about underground music staying pure and independent when artists face such struggles and the inevitable sellout when the formulaic major musicmachines labels take control of an artist's career. Perhaps they do explore their art more freely without oppression from the mainstream music industry's artistic directors breathing down their necks. That said, you would spend a long day trying to convince me that either artist would be any less gritty or keep it any less real with some industry support. Imho, the greedy-a$$ media moguls who (still) desperately want to cash in on a culture and movement they dismissed at its inception, attacked at its peak, and continue to misunderstand and misinterpret in its renaissance are now panicking as they see themselves left out of the equation as purveyors of what is worth listening to - that's what I'm here 4!

Thought you should know, some of these days, the weight of so many roads is sometimes too much;
happiness just out of reach, as if I can't wait one more day.
Only women bleed. Her ordinary pain can open your eyes & change your world.
She's a woman, a lover, a friend; she's got to be real always.
Tell me, in time can we work it out?
Just say yes my dear, only you make me feel alright.
You know, that's a pretty good love. What a man; he's funny that way.
What you gave me talkin about forgiveness led me into love.
The magic of your mind's the reason I wanna thank you.

LOVE>FEAR
Yeah peeps, here with new Teairra Mari "Finding My Way Back". Mary J.'s sweet on this joint with Big Boi. Styles P's "Ghosts" is nice too.
From Chocolate City, RatheMC gets together with Kid Cudi and DJ A-Trak and the result is spectacular.
Busta's on quite a streak, continuing to explore his caribbean heritage, this time with Machel Montano.
Statik Selektah gets a heap of homies to help out on this lovely cut "To The Top".
AZ's got a "Secret". And Joe Budden's proving hip hop isn't dead at all with thistirade trak.
VIC is like, Mister club banger: "Wobble". Okiii, now let's be "Gangsta"! As for this, just one more can't hurt.
From da Wu fam (BK Zoo 2 b specifik), Chi King's "Icy" on Maino's Hi Hater track.
This "incredible" beat is hot, peep Mickey Factz and Naledge on it.
Here's Chamillionaire's freestyle on Nas' "Hero" track.
Gee, I dunno if this Erykah is funky enough...
And gee, that's some "homage" to my hero, Chuck D....
Some unrlsd Talib (not) from Eardrum:
"Gettin My Grown Man On" ft. Little Brother
"Take It Back" ft. Marsha Ambrosius

This and that
Let's start with some Wu, RZA with U-God and Inspectah Deck on this remix.
This Ryan Leslie track ft. Cassie "Addicted" is gettin mad love from some choice MCs like Joe Budden - see below for Red Cafe's version. Here's a couple more R. Les' jointz: "Elektro (remix)" and "Where U Gonna Be".
Since we're on an R&B tip, Akon's midas touch production is in effect on Romeo's "Need 2 Be There".
Brandy can always be counted on for a decent album and her latest "Keeping It To Myself" is no exception. "I Wanna Fall In Love" is my current fav.
I'm lovin the cross-pollination of hiphop/r&b/dancehall/reggaeton. Here's what I mean:
Wise Intelligent ft. Somer Lane "Sensi Party"
Brahim - "Chica Loca"
Atiba ft. Mr. Vegas - "Like What"
Nigel Lewis ft. Beenie Man & Giovanna - "I Jus Wanna"
Kardinal Offishall ft. Lindo P - "Burnt"
WOT!? New Onyx!

Know what I like? I like BOOMIN'-A$$ BASS! Standin' next 2 tha speakers so the bassline makes your chest cavity vibrate. Or the rearviews. Just turn it up.
Mr. Bangladesh is tryna make my summer, next up is Busta Rhymes "I Got Bass" - yeah u sure as hell do.
Know what else I like? Da AIR HORNNN!!! It might be my favourite musical instrument.
Peep Team Blackout's liberal use on "Billion Dollar Boyfriend".
Tek Nizzle gives us a few well-placed honks.
Gotta show some love for who? Joe Budden.
Mickey Factz is everywhere! Here with XV and Jessie Boykins III, a remake of Common and Mos Def's classic "The Questions".
"No Tomorrow" is Stealth's latest, so of course I had 2 link this.
Try some Sha Stimuli with "Ribbon In The Sky". Covers by Boys II Men (accapella), Jamelody and Stevie's sublime original.
Ne-yo smoovin' on "Set It Off", and Joe is Beautiful.

Feelin' these
I love covers and remixes. Here Estelle reprises Faith Evans' hook on ACTQ's classic "Stressed Out".
If Sha Stimuli's "Redemption" is growing on me, lets just say that Charles Hamilton is smothering me with vines before dropping a massive tree on my head.
The Clipse is back on "Fast Life" with über-producer Scott Storch, who also worked with Mario on this cut.
Looks like Cube's hangin' with the Carter clique, Trick Trick's long-hyped album should be out now that alpha dog lil Wayne's pwnd tha game (well, @ least in his mind, and largely thanx to Bangladesh...); that said, this track keeps gettin a replay. LW also lends a verse to Sean Garrett on "Girlfriend Ringtone".
Big Hop is an MC/DJ reppin' NC, "Reggae on the Radio" is my fav track thusfar.
Just in case u missed it, here's a lil unrlsd 'Ye. Which brings me 2 LupEND - is it really? And yes, u bet that beat sounds familiar! Which reminds me of a mad new dancehall collabo by Farenheit ft. Sean Paul and Jigzagula.

Sum Nu
I love me some Red Cafe, he keeps bringin' it, album drop is imminent.
Can't decide if I'm feelin' Musiq Soulchild's latest track "Radio"...
The D.E.Y. however, I'm all over (tx KS). "And I Miss You" brings 2 great trax 2gether (EBTG's "Missing" & XSO ft. Red Cafe's "Can I Get It Back").
Might Sasha and her (aptly named...?) baby-daddy Turbulence be easing into domesticity?
'Nother great new collabo: Macy Gray ft. The Game "Only In The Dark", produced by Jared Lee.
Hot Stylz & Mya get together on "Faucet", causing me to play SWV's "Rain" even tho its hot & sunny out.
The Clipse + Scott Storch = club banger.
MJ + Akon = resurrection?
Just in case you haven't heard, Kardinal Offishall is pretty much the best MC in the world, as far as Akon and I (among others) are concerned. This track is très pop, but I love a remix and if it gets Kardi more play, all the better.
Jaheim's latest is here on principle, I'mma keep it 100 w/ him.
KRS One still soundin' ferocious on "Today's Lesson".
Kid Cudi outta Cleveland asks "Is There Any Love"?
Fantasia sounds lovely on "Broke", but 4 me, Nicole Wray does it better ("...hold up - who the fuck iz dat bitch!...")
This cut had me bus-tin-out in my ride 2day (ya ya, 50's all "goo goo gaa gaa" but when's the last time anyone dusted off tha Yarborough & Ppls?)
So did this T.I., course I have 2 link the orig.
Back 2 dancehall, Bramma's one of my fav up & coming artists atm, this is him on Soulseeka riddim, love when tha bass booms.
Can anyone resist clappin along to Chi Ching Ching's latest?
Lukie D's a gem on How Can I riddim.
Pharoahe Monch is feelin Madlib's illness and Erykah's healin', so he "had to spit on this joint".

Here @ last!
Ok ppl, this is it, had to consolidate my need 2 push next/catch up/vent my spleen! If you ever asked yourself "what should I play today?", the answer is here.
The world of music is too swift and vast to navigate alone, so here are my favs, new and old; trax that need to be heard and noticed or remembered, imho...
I agonized over what would be my first blog trak ever, but in the end, it was simple; I let my iTunes Most Played track decide for us.
Tagore's da man: "music fills the infinite between two souls".
